Bible Verse about Jesus and Healing and view on doctors today

Matthew 4:23
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

I hope that more and more doctors duplicate the example of Jesus in this verse to the best of their ability to help heal sick people such as ourselves. I have faith that there are good doctors out there that are in the business to help people and not get rich. I met an incredible doctor that cares deeply about his patients at my church. He is not just all about medication when it comes to fibromyalgia, he is a concerned advocates for his patients that have the disease. He is Paul Paily, MD of Houston, TX. Please look him up if you are in the market for a caring doctor. If you live in another area and are looking at doctors to go to, read reviews. I linked to one review site and there are many more. There are several good doctors in my area, but it is good to know that I am going to one who is a Christian first and a doctor second.
I'm so glad that Jesus sets the bar so high for all of us, not just doctors. If it is in our power or knowledge (with the help of Christ) to help someone, we should do all we can. We then follow the example that Jesus set 2,000 years ago.
What are your thoughts on this post?

Bible verse about Hope

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:27)

Isn't it great knowing that God is eternal and everlasting? We are headed for a great place when this life is over. We should make the most of this life while we are here, though. How do we do that? I believe it is important to put God first in our life. We know especially from this verse that God will provide a safe haven for us if we call on him. When we are feeling depressed, sick, and lonely, God will help us if we just call on him. We have to swallow our pride and call on the Lord knowing that He is the All-Knowing and the Great I am. Not us. The Lord will always prove to be faithful to us and we must do the same.

Faith is a shield!

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  -Ephesians 6:16

This is such a powerful verse.  I don't know about everyone else, but a lot of the flaming arrows of the evil one that are thrown at me are negative thoughts and fears.  Negative thoughts seem to turn into fears sometimes.  Every time a negative thought enters my brain, I should always think about how Christ died for us and what that means.  It helps me to think of the big picture when I think about what Jesus did for us.  Then that thought seems to simply fade.  If it doesn't fade, then I (and others that this happens to) need to pray about it.  We need to say, "Here you go, God.  I'm casting all my cares upon you."  We need to actually do this, though.  That means that we cannot pray about it and just keep worrying about it.  We need to have faith that God will take care of the problem.
What activities or things can push out negativity?  Christian music can tend to get negative thoughts and fears out of our heads.  Exercising, although hard to do sometimes with fibromyalgia, can push negativity out.  Satan wants us to be thinking negative thoughts and to always live in fear.  It is not God's way.  If anyone has any other suggestions on how to get rid of negative thoughts and fears, please comment!  Thanks!

Vitamins that are good to know about...

Hi all,

I was reading up on vitamins in a blog I found about vitamins and supplements.  I'll summarize for you.  If you are a fibromyalgia sufferer, the chances of you needing vitamins B5, B6, and vitamin A are high.  Vitamin A helps support your immune system.  Some say it can also help combat certain forms of cancer.  Ok, vitamin B6 is a given for fibro people.  It helps combat several fibromyalgia symptoms including but not limited to nervousness, insomnia, inflammation of the colon, muscular control, and irritability.  It also can help balance hormones.  A common sign of a vitamin B5 deficiency is chronic fatigue.  Need I say more?
I insist that all people with fibromyalgia get on a high-quality multivitamin.  I am in my 20's and I take a multivitamin designed for women over 45 because of the symptoms I have of deficiency in vitamins and minerals.
Make sure that you eat before you take your vitamins.  It is not usually comfortable to take vitamins on an empty stomach.

Hope this helps some of you out there!

Acupuncture

Hi all,

I went and got acupuncture today after quite a bad night with a fibromyalgia flare-up last night.  The acupuncture always feels so amazing.  I live in the Houston area and went to Sugarmill Chiropractic.  Nicole, the doctor I had, was very knowledgeable and listened intently.  She said I responded very well to the acupuncture.  She explained further that you can tell when someone is responding well if their skin gets red around the small needles.  I felt how well I responded to the treatment as I walked out of their office.  Is the result permanent? No, but it does provide a lot of relief at a fraction of the cost of some other doctors- especially if you do not have insurance or a high deductible. It is $90 for the first visit and $40 for every subsequent visit after.  If you live in other areas you should really check around for the best acupuncture clinic and see what the price is before you go there.  I think this is a good price.  I paid $55/visit to someone in Conroe before.  Hope this information is helpful to someone!

Bible Verse on Hope and Faith

I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. (Psalm 34:4)

I believe that if we seek the Lord, we will find comfort in Him.  A lot of us (me included) with fibromyalgia have problems with anxiety.  No matter what the cause of the anxiety, God does not want our bodies polluted with its toxins.  If we feel anxiety coming on, we should call on God to help us.  We cannot deal with everything on our own.  We need God's help.  Some things are completely out of our control.  We have to let go and let God.  How?  We pray.  We understand that there are several things that we are never going to understand.  We realize that we cannot play God in our own lives- that is where some anxiety about things we can't control can try to claim our lives and our health all the more.  There are several fears that come up when it comes to having this disease.  If it has gotten so bad that you cannot work, you can have major money worries.  Be as responsible as possible and pray and ask God to help you with the rest.  Keep your head up to the skies, to the Lord in Heaven.  He knows who His children are and he remembers their requests.

Verse of the Day and Thoughts

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 2 Corinthians 4:8-11

This is a great verse when it comes to giving us hope.  We are children of God and we are better than despair.  I feel like fibromyalgia can cause us to feel moments of despair, but we should not give into the sin.  We should try our hardest no matter what, because God has a plan for each and every one of us.  If we are negative and give in to sin, we are bad examples for Christians everywhere.  I know it is easier said than done, but we must keep the hope of Jesus alive within us.  Let's pray for one another.  Let's pray for continuous hope, health, peace and happiness.

Fibromyalgia Treatment/Relief Options

Hi all,

I wanted to take the time to show different Fibromyalgia treatment or relief options.  Since there is no cure, these treatments provide temporary relief most of the time.  Beware of any products that say they "cure" fibromyalgia.  You can use some of these treatment options simultaneously.  Consult your doctor about any treatment options you try.

Medications:
1. Clonozepam
2. Cymbalta
3.  Lyrica
4. Savella

Other methods:
1. Acupuncture
2. Deep Tissue Massages
3. Magnesium
4. Multivitamin
5. Special Diets (there are several but basically take out sugar and non whole wheat carbs)
6. Cupping- Chinese medicine technique
7. Yoga
8. Pilates
9. Walking

It is most important to learn to pace yourself.  That is something I definitely struggle with as many FM sufferers do.  Just remember to keep the faith and keep trying.

Our First Bible Verse to Reflect On!

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

I think one application of this verse could be that we can be sure at ALL times that we hope to be well and rid of this disease called fibromyalgia.  Sometimes we can get lost feeling sorry for ourselves.  If we don't snap out of it soon with the help of Christ, we can then lose hope and not stay true to our hope of getting better from this disease.  We need to be certain at all times that the All Mighty does exist and can do all things.

Welcome to Fibromyalgia and Faith!

Thank you for visiting Fibromyalgia and Faith!  This is a new blog about fibromyalgia and how having faith in the Lord influences one's attitude and health.  We will touch on any aspects of fibromyalgia, faith and general health.  We will also talk about ways to motivate ourselves and others.  I want to try to make this blog as helpful as possible for fibromyalgia sufferers and their friends.  Let's begin!
